Do call the Embassy’s
freight forwarder, the Australian Government Cargo Office (AGCO), for
shipping for instructions for all Hazardous Cargo, Dry-Ice Shipments and
Perishable Items.

Do provide IATA or
IMDG Certification, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Competent Authority
for Hazmat and Explosive Shipments.
Do attach two (2)
copies of commercial invoice and Certificate of Conformance to outside of
package in sealed pouch.
Do enclose one copy (1)
of commercial invoice and Certificate of Conformance inside the package.
Do list unit cost,
total cost and a “Mark For” address for consignee in Australia on the commercial invoice.
Do provide a Shipper’s
Security Endorsement (SSE) for all Airfreight shipments. This is required
by TSA Security Program (formally the FAA).
Do ensure description
of item listed on commercial invoice is stated exactly as stated on your
State Department Export License (if required).
Do ensure packaging is
adequate for receipt at ultimate destination in an undamaged condition and
in accordance with IATA or IMDG regulations if appropriate.
Do ensure that on all
classified packages, exposed seams are sealed completely with tape-gummed
Kraft paper tape (reinforced) or equivalent.

Don't List:
Do Not ship hazardous
cargo to the Australian Government Cargo Office (AGCO) without first
calling (650) 449 5508 to obtain pre-approval. Shipments arriving at the Australian
Government Cargo Office (AGCO) without pre-approval will be rejected and
returned at supplier’s cost.
Do Not ship cargo without
commercial invoice or Certificate of Conformance. (Note:
the product cannot be exported without a commercial invoice and
cannot be used in Australia without the Certificate of Conformance).
Do Not ship any wooden
crates that contain “BARK” or non-treated wood. (Note: the Australian Quarantine Office will not
allow goods to enter Australia if the packaging contains bark or if the
wood has not been treated).
Do Not use metal strapping
on classified packages. (Note: this is prohibited by Defence Courier
Service, the approved carrier for classified materials).
Do Not include Original
State Department License with your cargo.
Ship separately to the Australian Government Cargo Office (AGCO)

Do Not mix consignments
having different Purchase Orders or different modes of shipments.
Do Not ship any cargo to
the Australian Government Cargo Office (AGCO) after 5:00 p.m. unless
pre-arrangements have been made.
